Kirsten Dunst's Breakout Role You Totally Forgot About
When people think of longtime actress Kirsten Dunst, an entire list of major films and TV shows comes to mind. From her roles in "Spider-Man," "Bring It On," "Marie Antoinette," and more, she's one of Hollywood's most familiar and sought-after faces. She has the ability to take on roles that span genres, from comedies to drama films to period pieces. No matter what character she's embodying, Dunst always finds a way to add her signature touch to whatever project she's diving into next.
Outside of major blockbuster films, she's also a reoccurring face on several TV shows. She's had roles on shows like "ER" and "Fargo," as well as a handful of cameos. She's been nominated for Golden Globes, Primetime Emmys and more. But if you remember back, Dunst got her start in Hollywood in a very unlikely, but star-studded, 90s cult horror film that might have slipped your mind.
Kirstin Dunst's breakout role was a vampire horror film
Prior to some of her more recognizable starring roles in Hollywood, Dunst got her big break acting alongside Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in 1994's "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles." Her character was named Claudia, a young girl turned into a vampire by Pitt and Cruise's characters. The men take her under their supernatural wings. Despite being Dunst's first major foray into film, her performance was praised higher than veterans Pitt and Cruise. She was even nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes for her take on Claudia.
"Interview with the Vampire" is based on Anne Rice's popular 1976 novel of the same name. The film adaptation, with a screenplay written by Rice, was a cult classic horror film. Though 11-year-old Dunst was just getting her footing, her portrayal was bone-chilling and the peak of the entire film.
